Elie Tahari AW13 Presentation #NYFW

Elie Tahari held his presentation in New York this week.

A Siberian winter covering a modern metropolitan landscape is the inspiration for the Elie Tahari Fall 2013 Women’s Collection, an urban winter created by the mid-century glass and steel architecture of Gordon Bunshaft covered with the clean shapes of a frozen snowy tundra.

At the heart of the collection are menswear influenced body-conscious silhouettes, including fitted pants paired with voluminous tops, a sumptuous fur jacket and a cocoon coat in printed double faced wool. Tailored pieces feature mixed media pairings like quilted jacquard with oversized knits in ultra light cashmere and chiffon. Details include raw edged leather, exposed zippers and exaggerated collars. An a-line skater skirt paired with a motorcycle jacket and our take on the new tuxedo with leather trim are highlights. Colors resemble deep shadows in rich hues of Asphalt, Winterberry, Midnight Dream Blue, and Carnaby Hill Green.

The Fall 2013 Men’s Collection reflects a military aesthetic with tailored silhouettes including a peacoat, waterproof wool vest, duffel coat and a leather bomber jacket, layered over deconstructed herringbone blazers, magic wash sweaters and slim corduroys. Elements include contrasting trims, inner detailing, and mixed media prints in warm saturated colors of Foliage Green, Teal Goblet, and Federal Gray for a polished, modern urban style.
